About Gemma

Hi, I’m Gemma. I’m a mum of three, based in Felixstowe, Suffolk, and I run Gem Assist because I know exactly how much easier running a business is when someone’s got the admin covered.

I work with business owners across a real mix of industries, from creative makers to community organisations, and I take care of the day-to-day admin so you can focus on what actually needs you: your clients, your craft, and the parts of the business only you can do.

Outside of work I’m a parent governor, charity secretary, and relief library assistant for Suffolk Community Libraries. Staying properly involved in my community matters to me. When I’m not doing that, I’m usually in the garden, baking something, or halfway through another cooking show.

I believe support should fit how your brain actually works, not the other way round. My own family is neurodivergent, so I understand that admin and structure aren’t one-size-fits-all, and I build the way I work around what actually suits you.

My Journey

My route into virtual assistance wasn’t a straight line. I spent years in administration and customer-facing roles, including hospitality and events management, before running my own antenatal, baby, toddler and preschool classes right up until COVID. Running my own business gave me a real understanding of what it’s like to juggle the day-to-day admin alongside everything else, which is exactly what I bring to my clients now.

These days I also use AI in my own business every day, and I set up AI assistants for business owners who would rather not hand their admin to a person. Same idea, a different way of getting your time back.
